We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Hastings team. The site Project Engineer will be responsible for the planning, execution, and completion of capital improvement projects within the site. This includes the development of project scopes, budgets, schedules, and risk assessments. This role works with the plant leadership team to ensure that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
About the role
- Plan, coordinate, and execute engineering projects in the plant, including equipment installations, process improvements, and facility expansions
- Develop the site 5 year capex planning, focusing on safety improvements, obsolescence planning, asset life extension and technology based innovations
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements, objectives, scope & deliverables
- Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress throughout the project lifecycle
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential challenges and recommend mitigation strategies
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to project teams, ensuring adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations
- Identify and resolve project-related issues, conflicts, and bottlenecks in a timely manner
- Prepare comprehensive project reports, including documentation of project milestones, financials, and lessons learned
- Validate technical drawings, schedules and technical manuals with design requirements
- When required, some travel will be necessary to support project delivery and regional requirements
- Promote a culture of: high service level - 'can do' attitude – respectful
About you
- 3+ years experience workng in a FMCG environment is essential
- Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or related area is required
- 5+ years direct people leadership experience would be desirable
- Experience with contractor management is required
- Demonstrated High Risk work management experience
- Knowledge of energy and carbon reduction technology would be desirable
- Budget management knowledge
- High level of computer literacy and ability to analyse data
- Lean manufacturing experience in TPM, 6 Sigma, MDI
- Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety
- Ability to use initiative and prioritise work
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective negotiation and influencing skills
- Auto CAD and MS Project experience is required
- Confident to work and interact with others at all levels
