The National Public Health Service (NPHS) has an opportunity available to join the team as Public Health Medicine Specialist. This is a permanent, full-time senior role based in Tairāwhiti in the Te Manawa Taki Regional Strategy and Operations Team.


The primary purpose of the Public Health Medicine Specialist role is to provide professional leadership for the delivery of public health/population health services. You will work in partnership with colleagues in Te Manawa Taki Regional Public Health Service to share responsibility for the professional quality of public health work and undertake the statutory duties and responsibilities of a designated Medical Officer of Health. The role will see you provide public health medicine advice and guidance around the delivery of a cohesive, effective, and equitable health system to ensure better health outcomes for the population.
This Public Health Medicine Specialist role is for up to 1FTE (40 hours per week) and you will participate in an on-call roster.
