Location: Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital
Service/Department: Intensive Care Unit/High Dependency Unit
Contract: Fixed term for 12 months to cover maternity leave (2 part-time positions 0.8 FTE and 0.9 FTE)

About the role:
We are seeking two dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurses to join our Intensive Care Unit on a fixed-term basis, covering maternity leave until September 2025. In this critical role, you will provide exceptional care to patients requiring intensive and high-dependency care, working within a dynamic and supportive team environment. Your expertise and compassionate approach will make a significant difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

Skills and experience:
The successful applicant/s will have extensive experience working in a multi-disciplinary team, in a busy acute intensive care unit, with advanced airway management skills, good knowledge and understanding of invasive mechanical ventilation, and the ability to manage a busy workload and prioritize care and tasks appropriately with minimal supervision.
  • Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or similar high-acuity environment.
  • Study support and opportunities for formal and informal CPD.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centred approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
