Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We are looking for energetic and empathetic Registered Nurses to work within Thames Hospital’s Emergency Department.

The successful applicants will ideally have experience in Emergency care although we are willing to train the right person. There are full or part time positions available and the successful candidates must be available to work rostered and rotating 8 hours shifts 24/7 across all seven days of the week.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of safe and appropriate patient / client-centred nursing care.

  • Contribute to teaching / education, support, service delivery and the provision of services.

Thames is a modernised 50 bed secondary hospital, 100 kilometres north of Hamilton. We have a 24 hour emergency department, inpatient unit, ambulatory surgery, outpatient clinics and rehabilitation services. The hospital also provides laboratory and radiology services, including CT.

It is classified as a rural hospital and is located at the foot of the beautiful Coromandel peninsula, with specialty services provided by our tertiary hospital Waikato. We serve the Thames, Coromandel Peninsula and Paeroa areas.

We pride ourselves on the provision of quality and patient focussed care and work in a true inter-disciplinary way with clinical and allied health team members. The hospital is an integral part of the community.

Mōu | About you

Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:

  • Experience in emergency care, although we are willing to train the right person.

  • Have the eligibility to work in New Zealand

  • Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand; inclusive of scope of practice

  • Expected to meet a competent level of practice on the Professional Development and Recognition Programme, but may achieve a higher level of practice

  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
