Law Vu’s Product & Engineering team is looking for a Senior Data Engineer, who excels in designing and scaling modern data platforms and is passionate about working with cutting-edge AI technologies.
As a Senior Data Engineer at Law Vu, you’ll tackle complex data challenges, scale our data platform, and drive innovation for our latest AI product features. You’ll work closely with data and software engineers in our Data & AI pods to enhance our platform and AI capabilities, drive customer value and position us for rapid growth.
What you’ll do…
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data, ensuring data integrity and performance optimization.
- Identify and implement improvements for including performance tuning, query optimization, and storage management
- Collaborate with engineers, product and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide technical expertise
- Creation and maintenance of testing and documentation artifacts
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members
What you’ll need…
Required:
- 5+ years of experience designing, building and supporting large scale modern data platforms such as Azure Databricks (preferred), Azure Synapse etc.
- Experience designing, implementing and deploying ETL/ELT pipelines, data lakehouse (medallion) architectures
- Strong SQL and Python (Py Spark) experience
- Experience with CI/CD using tools such as Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions
- Comfortable working in an Agile development environment
- Excellent communications skills, both written and oral
Beneficial:
- Knowledge and experience in generative AI and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures
Location
New Zealand (ideally Tauranga, Auckland or Wellington)
