Student Centre Advisor

FULL TIME

August 15, 2024

  • Looking for a rewarding role to deploy your outstanding customer service skills?
  • Thrive off juggling many hats and learning about anything and everything?
  • Join our team for this high energy and rewarding opportunity
Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Working in the bustling Student Centre, you will be the first point of contact for our students, providing them with high level and timely advice to enrich their student experience throughout their academic journey.
One day you could be providing advice to a prospective student on degree options and the next ensuring fees are being processed correctly, to assisting a student who has recently completed their studies and is about to graduate. Having lots of energy and the ability to multi-task whilst providing excellent customer service is key to this team's success.
You will be joining an integrated and diverse team, where you will always be encouraged to contribute feedback on current practice and we also welcome suggestions of new innovative ways of improving processes to enhance the student experience.
Salary will be in the range of $69,199 to $82,228 per year based on skills, knowledge, and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based on our Hillcrest Campus.
For more information on the role please see the position description here. For more information about the Student Centre please click here. For a confidential informal conversation about the role, please contact Laura Findlay, Student Centre Manager laura.findlay@waikato.ac.nz
Ko wai koe? - Who are you?
Ideally, you will have a tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline, along with the ability to investigate, analyse and make recommendations on a variety of processes and have experience working with financial processes.
Most importantly, you will have excellent interpersonal communication skills, along with the ability to successfully engage with not only a diverse student population but wider key stakeholders across the University.
Ko wai mātou? - Who are we?
The Student Services team provides services and experiences which promote wellbeing, encourage participation and support student retention. Our services help students to grow and to develop resilience and independence as well as complement and enhance academic achievements which help ready or better equip our students to be successful in their chosen career or future studies.
He aha ngā take me tono mai ai koe? - Why should you apply for this position?
We want you to be part of our success! Our University stands proudly on the world stage as a provider of future-focused, international education and an active player in global research. Our rankings reflect these strengths. Working with us means you'll enjoy a satisfying work environment with many benefits.
The University of Waikato is distinctive for the diversity of its staff and students and encourages applicants with the relevant capabilities from all backgrounds to apply.
