Teaching Fellow in Computing

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow at our Tauranga campus, who will contribute quality teaching in lectures, tutorials, workshops and labs, postgraduate supervision and outreach. You will also contribute to teaching innovation, curriculum refreshment and alignment of learning activities and content between subjects across the School, by working collaboratively with other Teaching Fellows, Tutors, and relevant academics. This work will include ensuring alignment with the secondary school curriculum, ensuring a smooth transition for students into tertiary education.

Salary will be in the range $76,904 to $107,931 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week). Who are you? - Ko wai koe?
With a postgraduate qualification or industry experience in Computer Science or Software Engineering, you will be able to teach at a tertiary level through your technical ability and innovative teaching approach. You must have the ability to teach at all levels of study and have broad and in-depth knowledge in Computer Science, with practical expertise in Programming (C# and Java preferred).
You will have proven success in undergraduate teaching including the ability to conduct small group tutorials effectively as well as teach to larger numbers, along with the ability to contribute to the graduate and postgraduate teaching programmes. As the Tauranga campus expands there will be the opportunity to assist in supervision for Work-integrated Learning and as well as Ph D and Masters level students.
With the ability to work independently and as part of a small team in Tauranga, you will work collaboratively with your Hamilton based colleagues. A Ph D (or close to finishing at the time of application) in a relevant discipline area is required. We work closely with local industry and key community groups, ideally you will have previous experience working with similar collaborators.
Additionally, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate with staff and students effectively. You will also have an interest and enthusiasm for community engagement and student recruitment.

The School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences comprises a number of academic programmes including, Mathematics, Statistics/Data Analytics, Computer Science, Software Engineering and Design. The School offers a range of qualifications at undergraduate, postgraduate and professional training levels, which are delivered at the campuses in Hamilton and Tauranga, and online.
