Youth and Community Development Representative (12 month fixed term parental leave cover)

Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi - About the Role
In this role you will share your passion for education, presenting, inspiring and motivating others. You will present to and engage with a wide range of potential students, playing a key part in promoting and delivering the full Ara experience and programmes through a number of innovative direct engagement activities throughout Christchurch and the Canterbury region.
You will be responsible for delivering engagement activity, which generates quality leads through a range of innovative direct engagement activities with schools and community groups to influence the growth in enrolment numbers for Ara.
You will need to be available for travel outside Christchurch from time to time and be able to work some evenings and weekends to attend events and expos.
This role is a 12-month fixed term role, covering parental leave.
Ngā Pūkenga Me Ngā Wheako - Skills/Experience
  • A tertiary qualification at Degree level in an appropriate discipline, or relevant experience in sales, recruitment or marketing
  • Full NZ Drivers Licence
  • Understanding of NZ Education System preferred
  • Experience working with youth
  • Excellent communication skills, including:
  • Public speaking and presenting to diverse groups, large and small
  • Sound interpersonal communication - face to face situations, excellent listening skills
  • Effective sales and negotiation skills
  • Written communication skills
  • Relating professionally to a wide range of others - organisations, managers, colleagues, a variety of people of all ages, backgrounds, interests
  • Proven organisational and planning skills, including the ability to take multiple tasks through to completion
  • Excellent time management
  • Competent user of relevant computer applications (MS Office, e-mailing systems and internet)
  • Competent in administration and the ability to keep accurate records
  • Adhere to budget usage and financial guidelines
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
