We are seeking a skilled Photography Editor to join our team for the release of our monograph titled “My Story in Red.” This project explores the connection between Nigerian customs and Welsh culture, focusing on traditional elements such as distinctive Nigerian caps, the Gele (a traditional head wrap worn by women), and traditional beads. These symbols represent significant aspects of Nigerian lifestyle and heritage. By highlighting these cultural elements, “My Story in Red” aims to bridge the gap between Nigerians in Wales—particularly those who have not had the opportunity to visit Nigeria—and their cultural roots.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for visual storytelling and a keen eye for detail. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where creativity and precision are valued.
Responsibilities
- Image Selection and Curation: Curate and select photographs that align with the theme and narrative of the monograph.
- Sequencing and Storytelling: Arrange images to create a cohesive and engaging visual flow.
- Image Editing and Consistency: Oversee technical editing of images to ensure consistency in quality and presentation.
- Layout Design: Collaborate with graphic designers or work directly on the layout of the monograph, ensuring that the images and text are well-integrated.
- Publisher and Printer Coordination: Identify and liaise with publishers and printers to ensure the monograph is produced to high standards.
- Distribution Strategy: Assist in finding and coordinating with distributors, including traditional and online platforms like Amazon.
- Quality Assurance and Proofing: Conduct thorough proofing to check for inconsistencies and errors before finalizing the monograph.
- Marketing and Promotion Input: Provide input on marketing and promotional strategies to ensure the monograph reaches the intended audience.
- Final Review and Approval: Oversee the final review process to ensure the monograph is polished and ready for release.
- Expertise in Photography/Art Books: Proven experience in editing photography or art books.
- Visual Storytelling: Strong understanding of visual narrative and sequencing.
- Image Editing: Proficiency in technical image editing and maintaining consistency.
- Publisher/Printer Relations: Experience with coordinating publishers and printers.
- Distribution Knowledge: Familiarity with distribution channels, including online platforms.
- Communication Skills: Excellent ability to collaborate with team members and communicate effectively.
- Attention to Detail: High level of detail orientation in editing and proofing.
Contract length: 2 months
Pay: ₦100,000.00 - ₦150,000.00 per month
