Talent Operations Lead - Nigeria

Jaza is a solar energy start-up working to power Sub-Saharan Africa. We build solar-powered shops which charge batteries customers use to power their homes. In 2022, we achieved over 1.5 million battery swaps, providing approximately 186,000 people access to clean, affordable energy. We employ women from each community (known as Jaza Stars) to run the service, empowering our team to become leaders, entrepreneurs and drivers of economic growth within their communities. To support this expansion, we’re planning to hire over 100 people over the next 6 months.
Position Overview
To support our rapid expansion, we’re seeking a proactive and detail-oriented lead in talent operations. The Talent Operations Lead will coordinate high-volume recruitment pipelines for Hub Managers and Field Service Engineers, along with recruitment for positions in finance, operations, and human resources both within and outside Nigeria. The role will be responsible for ensuring a seamless onboarding process, driving employee engagement, and supporting the employee lifecycle, from talent acquisition to employee experience, learning and development and performance management. This provides an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain responsibility quickly and contribute directly to the critical growth stage of the business. We are seeking a process-driven generalist who can source, assess and onboard exceptional talent. The ideal candidate will have strong communication, time management and organizational skills, high emotional intelligence, collaboration and teamwork, a strategic mindset, and the ability to implement people-driven initiatives to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
Reporting
You will report directly to the HR Lead - NG and at times, to the Chief of Staff (Co S) and Managing Director (MD) on specific tasks and ongoing projects as needed. Role and responsibilities
You will work across the People and Culture department to deliver the following:
- Recruitment: You will be responsible for managing end-to-end recruitment processes, ensuring that the organization attracts high-quality candidates across different departments and regions. This includes developing and maintaining a candidate pipeline and overseeing job postings, interviews and offers. The role will involve close collaboration with department leads and hiring managers to define recruitment needs, talent gaps, ensure timely and efficient hiring processes and manage the offer negotiation process.
- Onboarding: You will be responsible for coordinating the onboarding process, making sure new hires integrate smoothly into the organization. This includes setting up relevant introductory meetings, training and providing resources that help new employees quickly become productive members of the team. You will also be responsible for ensuring that employees continue to receive support during their first few months and that feedback is gathered to continually improve the onboarding process.
- Employer Branding: Working in collaboration with the HR Lead, you will help develop and promote Jaza’s employer brand, ensuring that we attract top talent by showcasing the company’s values, culture and opportunities. You will also participate in external branding initiatives such as career fairs and partnerships with educational institutions to enhance visibility as an employer of choice, while working internally to foster an inclusive and inspiring culture.
- HR Operations: You will support the implementation of day-to-day operations processes efficiently. This includes proper documentation and management of employee records such as offers, contracts, promotions, transfers, while also enforcing the company’s HR policies in alignment with organizational goals.
- Employee Engagement and Retention: You will collaborate with the HR Lead to implement engagement strategies such as surveys, recognition programs and career development initiatives aimed at increasing job satisfaction and employee retention. You will also work closely with leadership to design retention programs that keep high-performing employees engaged and reduce turnover, ensuring long-term workforce stability.
- Learning and Development: You will support the HR Lead by coordinating and tracking learning and development initiatives that align with the organization’s strategic goals. This includes organizing in-house training sessions, identifying external training opportunities and ensuring that employees have access to the resources they need to enhance their skills, knowledge and abilities.
- Organizational Development: You will support initiatives that promote growth, performance, and alignment with company goals. This includes executing programs aimed at improving workforce productivity, leadership development and team dynamics. You will play an active role in implementing change management initiatives, ensuring that transitions are handled smoothly and effectively, with minimal disruption to operations.
- Performance Management: You will support in coordinating the organization’s performance management processes, working with the HR Lead and managers to ensure consistency and fairness and prepare performance reports.
- HR Technology (HRIS Management): You will be responsible for optimizing the HRIS, ensuring accurate employee data and leveraging technology to automate processes such as recruitment tracking, performance reviews and employee records management. The role will also involve generating reports and analytics on various HR metrics to inform leadership decisions.
- Stakeholder and Relationship Management: You will build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This includes working closely with department heads and hiring managers to ensure HR services meet their needs, as well as managing relationships with external vendors such as recruitment agencies, training firms, HR technology partner and other HR service providers in order to ensure that all services provided meet Jaza’s standards and contribute to the company's growth and employee development.
- A Bachelor's degree in Personnel Management, Psychology or any other related discipline.
- A Professional Certification in Human Resource Management, e.g. CIPM, SHRM, HRCI, etc. is desired
- Minimum 5 years’ of related experience in a similar role and at least 1 year in a leadership position reporting to the Management team .
- Experience using Human Resource Information (HRIS).
- Strong end-to-end recruitment skills. Ideally, you’ve managed or supported a high-volume recruitment process in some capacity previously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in the use of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
- High level of professionalism in communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
- Strong organization and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in the use of Google Suite productivity tools.
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written skills.
- A high level of integrity and ethical standards.
- Proven problem solving and analytical skills.
- Solid project management skills and super high attention to detail.
- Comfortable in early-stage startup environments. You’re self-directed and take ownership and initiative.

Pay: ₦800,000.00 - ₦1,000,000.00 per month
