We are now looking for an Expert, Propeller & Transmission to join our Propeller Shaftline Custom Delivery eng team working for a better future.
The preferred location for the position is in Rubbestadneset, Norway.


What you will be doing


In this position, your work will include providing technical support to Gate Rudder projects within Engineering and to other Wärtsilä stakeholders. On a typical day, you might start by contributing to the product development of Gate Rudder and end the day participating in the customer delivery teams for future Gate Rudder projects.


As an Expert, Propeller & Transmission, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

• Define BOM structure
• Drawing creation
• Develop internal mechanical expertise in the products
• Develop knowledge and expertise on the construction method products
• Define needs and rules for cost calculation.
• Participate in the customer delivery teams for the future Gate Rudder projects and act as product expert to accommodate successful delivery of first Gate Rudders
• Provide technical support to Gate Rudder projects within Engineering and to other Wärtsilä stakeholders.
• Contribute to the product development of Gate Rudder
• Support Sales, Sales Engineering and/or Customer Solution Engineering to provide best technical bid and engineering sketching
• Lead the creation and maintenance of product information, such as Product Guides, 2D drawings and 3D models and GA for the whole propulsion system together
• Identify cost improvement possibilities

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

• BSc or MSc in Marine or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent (documented relevant experience can compensate for lack of relevant education).
• Significant experience with Wärtsilä Propeller & Transmission systems.
• Experience with operations, installation, and/or maintenance of other Wärtsilä products will be considered an advantage.
• True team player qualities with excellent cooperation skills.
• Structured, analytical, proactive, and flexible way of working.
• Strong technical reporting and technical problem-solving skills.
• Customer-focused and service-oriented attitude.
• Quality and safety-oriented mindset.

In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 10%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
