PhD Student Position Available: Investigating Radiobiological Mechanisms of Cellular Response Induced by TAT

The position belongs to the research group of “Targeted alpha therapy” consisting of 7 employees. The group’s research maintains a high professional level and collaborates closely with national industrial and research environments.
The aim of this project is to study the radiobiological cellular effects and the mechanisms leading to cell death by alpha-emitting radiopharmaceuticals, identify resistance mechanisms; develop predictive methods and treatment strategies for improved targeted alpha therapy. By elucidating the biological and molecular mechanisms underlying the efficacy and limitations of this therapy, this project aims to advance the development safer and more efficient therapies for prostate cancer using this therapy alone or in combination with other therapies.
Main Objectives:
- Investigate the mechanisms underlying cellular response to alpha-emitting radionuclides.
- Explore the pathways contributing to resistance against targeted alpha therapy.
- Identify ways to enhance the efficacy of alpha-emitting radionuclides.

- Design and conduct experiments to study the radiobiological effects of alpha-emitting radionuclides on cancer cells.
- Utilize advanced techniques such as flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, and molecular biology methods to analyze cellular responses.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians.
- Present research findings at national and international conferences.
- Publish results in high-impact scientific journals.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., radiobiology, molecular biology, life science) with the minimum grade B on the master thesis and for the Master degree in total.
- Strong background in cell biology and molecular biology techniques.
- Experience with radiobiology and cancer research is required.
- User course in radiation protection for work with open radioactive sources, experience with radiolabeling and characterization of radioligands
- Course In Animal Research In Norway (CAREi N or equivalent) and experience to work with mice
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

- Transcripts and diplomas showing completion of the bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
- Relevant certificates (CAREi N and Radiation protection courses)
