Job Description
-The Role
For our Copper operations in Peru and Chile we are seeking a Global Category Manager to lead and manage a global portfolio of categories with the aim of maximising sustainable value for the business whilst developing holistic strategies and strategic partnerships that supports our technical, sustainability and financial ambitions and ensuring effective execution of end- to-end category management activities, including sourcing contracting and contracts management activities.
You will take leadership of a team of 5, based across Chile and Peru. The role will travel of approximately 1 week a month.
Key role requirements:

For our Copper operations in Peru and Chile we are seeking a Global Category Manager to lead and manage a global portfolio of categories with the aim of maximising sustainable value for the business whilst developing holistic strategies and strategic partnerships that supports our technical, sustainability and financial ambitions and ensuring effective execution of end- to-end category management activities, including sourcing contracting and contracts management activities.
You will take leadership of a team of 5, based across Chile and Peru. The role will travel of approximately 1 week a month.
Key role requirements:
- Translate the global Supply Chain business strategy into the area specific strategy, critical tasks, performance targets, plans and budgets with consideration of risk identification.
- Develop and deliver integrated, medium to long term category strategies and business cases that enable sustainable value, innovation, security and performance management.
- Facilitate the development of elevated strategic supplier partnerships.
- Provide strategic input to target setting and progress tracking against targets.
- Ensure that all activities relating to category management, sourcing and contracting events are planned, scheduled, resourced and executed in a timely and visible manner.
- Provide input to the Supply Chain budget and resource requirements.
- Accountable for end-to-end sourcing, contracting, contract management and administration activities, ensuring effective, efficient and timely execution across allocated portfolio (timeous and accurate capturing of price updates for contracts in the system).
- Negotiate and conclude Global Commercial Agreements in line with category strategies, accountable for ensuring agreements are primed for regional implementation and seamless, quality handovers to on-site supply chain teams that will support site-based implementation and day to day performance management.
- Support the on-site Supply Chain teams in the effective implementation and management of contracts, clarifying scope, roles, responsibilities and performance expectations and manage resolution of escalated issues.
- Work with Group Legal to develop bespoke agreements.
- Responsible for embedding Inclusive Procurement strategies and plans, expectations, targets and initaitives.
- Drive a culture of community development and inclusive procurement with all stakeholders.
- Lead, develop and coach a team of collaborative commercial professionals with deep category, business and industry knowledge.
- Oversee and manage work planning, execution, resource balancing and team performance.
- Ensure compliance with standards, designated systems, governance, ethical and legal requirements and communicate changes to legal requirements to relevant stakeholders.

- Bachelors degree.
- A postgraduate qualification (Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- 5-10 years’ experience in Supply Chain with at least 5 years in a leadership role across Category Management.
- Experienced in delivering cost reduction and driving sustainable value.
- Experience with executive level engagement across own company and suppliers.
- Fluency in Spanish and English.
- Safety & sustainability as it relates to Supply Chain & Inclusive Procurement
- Strong commercial, negotiation and deal-making, business case development, investment appraisal
- Experience across strategy development and delivery.
- Advanced Category Management and sourcing & contracting knowledge with TCO approach
- Advanced skills in SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) and SPM (Supplier Performance Management)
- Critical and systems thinking capability
