austa is looking for a Barista to take our day-time experience to the next level

Nestled between Almancil and Quinta do Lago in the Eastern Algarve, Austa (@austa_resta) is a celebration of seasonal eating and a relentless pursuit of good, honest ingredients identified from local producers that we feel proud to talk about.
We are seeking a friendly, efficient and experienced barista to join our front of house team in a dual role, that will blend preparing and serving a variety of coffee beverages (working with our beautiful Rocket Giotto Crono R espresso machine ), as well as jumping in to serve provide excellent customer service as part of our front of house team, in line with the austa values. You will be a part of our mission to ensure that each of our guests have a positive experience by maintaining a positive energy and a clean and welcoming environment, handling transactions, and being flexible to assist with any customer needs.
AT AUSTA YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

• Beverage Preparation: Expertly prepare and serve a wide range of coffee drinks, including espresso-based beverages and other specialty drinks.
• Food Service: Assist with the preparation and plating of some food menu items. Ensure that food is presented attractively and served in a timely manner.
• Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately, and provide recommendations based on customer preferences. Ensure a positive and welcoming atmosphere when addressing customer inquiries.
• Workspace Management: Keep the bar and food preparation areas clean, organized, and well-stocked. Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, food ingredients, milk, juice, syrups, and other supplies, and communicate needs for restocking.
• Cash Handling: Process customer transactions using the POS system, handle cash and card payments accurately, and manage daily cash drawers.
• Product Knowledge: Master the concept of our restaurant and share it with guests in a simple and genuine manner whilst maintaining a deep understanding of our menu, delighting guests with your knowledge in an efficient and inspiring way.
• Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain coffee-making equipment, including espresso machines, grinders etc. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment to ensure it functions correctly and safely.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely and in collaboration with other team members to ensure smooth operations, including assisting with cleaning duties, food preparation, and other tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Do you have Previous experience as a barista (6 Months +) and strong knowledge of coffee and espresso preparation techniques, as well as basic food service skills?
• Are you friendly and welcoming with excellent customer service skills, with a genuine love for creating amazing experiences?
• Fo you have passion for the world of food, wine, and restaurant culture?
• Are you cool, calm, and collected, even when things get a bit hectic?
• Are you Empathetic and understanding, building honest connections with both guests and colleagues?
• Are you team-oriented and eager to learn and grow alongside others?
• Are you focused on efficiency and finding ways to streamline procedures?
• Are you proactive and detail-oriented, always striving for excellence?
• Are you fluent in English with at least a conversational level of Portuguese?
