This role is a R&D role that will be acting as a transformation projects-focused development liaison.
This person will need to:

• Research & understand both our products, SAP’s and our partners' products in this space
• Take inputs from Professional Services teams on what functionality we are missing or is sub-optimal in the solutions suites we use today
• Prototype solutions on a branched codebase of our software
• Liaise with partners on how we use & co-innovate with their technologies
• Lobby & help push forward our analytics platform that analyses systems (before we then go and transform them).

The role will be a new & developing one tied to the establishment of a new Global Service Line (GSL) for transformation services mostly focused on either M&A or S/4HANA projects. However there’s a possibility of also working with our Privacy & Security business line, which has parallel goals but with similar technology bases.
The functionality we build is generally focused for this transformation area on:

• Extract, Transform & Load (ETL)
• Selective Logic for ETL
• Data Analytics
• Automated Financial Postings
• Governance and workflow controls around processes
• Reporting and analytics

The role would not sit without our core R&D team but would be a key liaison with the core R&D team, to help build and develop functionality for our SLO Global Service Line and to maintain a communicated pipeline of work. (Our core R&D team focus on similar areas, but have a major focus on Test Data & Privacy, with limited time to develop the area of Transformation; which now has a growing aspect of partner solutions).
You will be the primary liaison for the SLO Team in implementing/remediating cutting-edge solutions, specifically (but not solely) leveraging our Data Sync Manager software and related other Labs & Partners solutions.
The person successful in taking on this role should have a working developer's knowledge of both the ABAP and Java programming languages and of some level of application or product development, noting that our core software is written in Object-Oriented ABAP and you will have to be skilled up on how this software works. Whilst the future world of SAP is expected to be Cloud-based and working on languages more akin to Java.
As the role is a new one and part of growing structures we would entertain the right skillset in someone regardless of years of experience and the compensation package would be tailored to being appropriate for the skills that person brings. The potential of the role is strong, as this is seen as the main area of growth for EPI-USE Labs - alongside our core software - in the next five years.
We are initially focused on finding a person who is based in Germany and can come to our offices near SAP Walldorf with some regularity. However, the search can be expanded to any territory of Americas, Europe, & Africa if required, in order to find the right person.
This position complements EPI-USE Labs organisation and will help out expanding existing business as well as other business streams. The candidate will join a great professional team with different expertise and knowledge which makes EPI-USE Labs unique and so attractive to individuals.

For this specific role, it is mandatory to meet these requirements:

• At least five years of experience in IT industry
• Some experience within the SAP industry and an understanding of ERP applications
• Experience in developing software solutions and/or applications
• Development skills covering both ABAP and Java
• Some experience of Data Migration and/or Landscape Transformation
• Intermediate understanding of database design
• Excellent interpersonal, networking, presentation, and communication skills
• Team player and capacity to collaborate with the internal and external partners
• Fluent English Language

• Roles & Responsibilities

• Research both our own products suite and partner products in this space, reporting back to key staff
• Work in close collaboration with the key staff in R&D and Professional Services, across global solution and service lines
• Maintain a pipeline of functionality & solutions that are being managed relating to transformation services; taking responsibility to develop prototype solutions and then either integrate with core R&D, integrate with Partners R&D, or establish reason to develop directly solutions that fit neither and are dedicated to the transformation area
• Coordinate with professional services to ensure that the latest projects feedback is directly feeding into the pipeline for transformation developments
• First focus is research & co-ordination of development to ensure the pipeline for transformation functionality is prioritised and that the appropriate developments either go into core codebase, into a dedicated solo development or become a partner co-innovation. A role then for a Product/Developer but that is first focused on research and coordination
• Remain up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in our own and others’ software development as well as advancements in data and software solution technologies
• Expected 10% travel to work alongside key staff, although this may be more or less. Travel might result in being away from home Monday-Friday for periods, where expectations are for this to be infrequent, but at times long-distance

Compensation, Benefits & Locations
The role will be a permanent role employed through any of our primary employment countries, but ideally close to SAP headquarters in Germany. If the right person isn’t found in Germany then other possible locations will include, in order of preference; the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Portugal, Italy, The Netherlands, Canada, USA, Mexico, Greece and some other places where we have existing employment.
