Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and development of solar and BESS projects from initial feasibility studies to final implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Oversee the national and regional permitting processes, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and securing necessary land rights.
• Identify potential projects that possess optimal solar exposure, access to electrical transmission, and favorable site characteristics.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, utilities, DSO/TSO representatives, and community leaders, to facilitate project development.
• Monitor generation interconnection studies conducted by transmission providers and third-party entities.
• Initiate, lead, and perform engineering analyses of alternative design strategies in collaboration with internal and external resources as necessary.
• Participate in negotiations for interconnection agreements.
• Collaborate with internal departments such as Legal, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Finance, and Investment Analysis.
• Analyze and evaluate innovative technologies in the context of BESS and solar projects, including hybrid solutions as the market evolves.
• Provide management with regular reports, including project pipeline updates, status reports, and other necessary documentation.
• Conduct ongoing research on energy markets and competition, particularly focusing on the BESS sector.
• Ensure continuous and effective communication with cross-functional teams.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Professional Experience:

• At least 3 years of progressive project management experience within the energy sector.
• In-depth knowledge of the Portuguese market and a robust network within the sector and licensing authorities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with PVsyst, QGIS, and Auto CAD is advantageous.
• Experience in renewable energy projects is essential.
• Previous involvement in local and national policy development is a plus.
• Technical expertise in permitting processes and regulatory standards related to the development, construction, and operation of energy projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, energy storage technologies, and solar energy systems.
