Job Overview
This is a unique opportunity for highly motivated research personnel to join in full time or part time research fellowships in form of Research Assistant/Associate, Post Doc, or Ph D candidate to work on high impact R&D project with significant global potential or reach. In addition to working on a project of global impact, the research fellow will have valuable opportunities to immerse in the emerging QU innovation & entrepreneurial ecosystem in Qatar. This includes, but is not limited to, joining startups development programs, access for pre-seed grants and other support programs that could lead to the creation of a startup after the fellowship project concludes.
The project leaders seek candidates to work on Technology Entrepreneurship integration in Engineering Education, and the project offer a competitive compensation. The fellowships are assigned on a 3 years funded project from Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation (QRDI) Council, that aims to develop ABET aligned framework, curricular components, use-cases, and impact evaluation for integrating technology entrepreneurship in engineering education. The majority of empirical work will be in the College of Engineering at Qatar University which is ABET accredited, and the conceptual and theoretical framework as well developed curricular modules and use-cases are meant to be systematically developed in a way that make their adoption and adaptation easier by any ABET accredited college of engineering regionally and globally.
These research fellowship positions requires excellent writing and verbal communication with demonstrated exceptional success in publishing peer-reviewed journal and conference articles. The candidate must have a well-developed understanding of the literature in at least one of the following broad areas: technology entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial education, engineering education, higher
education, and technology startups, as well as significant knowledge and experience of educational research. The work also requires very good experience of mixed methods research, both quantitative and qualitative. Additionally, the postdoctoral fellow will be working across a variety of projects, and their primary responsibilities project-wise will be matched to their expertise. The position requires significant leadership spirit and management skills, as the research fellows will be assigned project work-packages management under guidance of the Project Lead PI and PIs. The work duties are conducted in English, although knowledge of Arabic is an advantage. This position is available for a duration of two to three years, with probation in the first year.
Ph D Degree Study Opportunity: for MSc holders interested in getting Ph D degree, you will have opportunity to conduct Ph D research thesis aligned with the research project topics along-side working on this project; you will need to apply and get accepted in a relevant Ph D program, e.g. Ph D in engineering management or entrepreneurship or engineering education, meeting the program requirements.
Position Start Date and Deadline
Start Date: 1st Feb 2025 or later, earlier start is also possible.

Essential Functions
Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
  • Perform research design
  • Lead data collection at home institution
  • Lead a data analysis
  • Preparing manuscripts for conferences and journals.
  • Attending professional conferences and meetings.
  • Mange and assist curricular development tasks
  • Assist in faculty professional development programs design and delivery related to the project
  • Mange project and grant logistics.
  • Preparing proposals for internal and external funding.
  • Any other assigned tasks and duties
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree qualifications
o For Research Assistant: BSc degree in relevant field
o For Research Associate & Ph D Candidate: MSc degree in relevant field (at least either the BSc or MSc to be in Engineering related field)
o For Postdoc: Ph.D. or Ed.D. required in Entrepreneurship Education, Technology Entrepreneurship, Engineering or STEM Education, Educational Research, Innovation Management, Business Administration, Social Studies, or closely related field. Ph D in STEM domain with demonstrated educational research methods and educational research published work can be considered as well.
  • Undergraduate/graduate degree in an Engineering or Science discipline (e.g., Physics) (Highly preferred); Candidates with Business Administration undergraduate degree or other closely related fields are also considered.
  • Experience mentoring research assistants or graduate students theses for Post Doc candidates.
  • Experience with grant writing for either internal or external funding.
  • Knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, including techniques unique to mixed methods.
  • Experience with survey construction and validation.
  • Experience teaching using evidence-based teaching practices.
  • Experience with teaching-related professional development.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the literature in engineering education, higher education, or educational research methods.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work and collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and staff from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
