Context
Thales Romania is looking for a beginner Data Engineer for a permanent contract.

We are currently seeking a beginner Data Engineer to participate in one of our projects implementing multiple software components and involving several collaborators in similar Data Engineering missions.

You will join the Thales Romania team, which specializes in designing, developing, integrating, and validating innovative and high-performance technical solutions for massive data storage and processing, in line with our client’s requirements in the energy sector.

Upon joining us, you will be responsible for the following missions as a beginner Data Engineer:

• Developing software solutions in cloud or similar contexts, which may include calculation components using orchestration frameworks for large-scale processing,
• Participating in the operational maintenance of developed software components,
• Estimating the technical efforts associated with development and testing activities,
• Keeping abreast of technological developments in the data field and participating in innovative prototypes.

Skills
Coming from a university background or computer engineering, you have a first experience in the field of data (Data Engineering), and overall in software engineering (development, testing). Knowledge of cloud technologies would also be an asset, whether public (AWS, GCP, Azure) or private.

The main activities you will carry out:

• Setting up data processing pipelines
• Using current state-of-the-art technologies dedicated to data storage, dissemination, and processing (SQL, No SQL, HDFS, Spark, Kubernetes, Kafka...) or cloud equivalents.

Common skills:

• Basic awareness of data governance principles and data security practices
• Basic Linux knowledge
• Basic Scripting & Automation (Python/Power Shell etc.)
• Basic understanding of cloud concept, cloud services, security and confidentiality
• ETL & Data Migration
• Basic skills in data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes and basic data integration techniques

You have a foundation in software development and/or scripting (mainly Python & Java) using dedicated development environments, preferably in contexts involving quality and security constraints.

You have knowledge of Cloud-based storage management (Azure, AWS).

You have knowledge of Operational Data Management.

You have experience in project management.

You are familiar with generic software design principles and can work in a team on modular systems, with minimal quality and security constraints.

You have an interest in issues related to data and its exploitation through storage and transformation software systems.

You are comfortable in English.
You are curious and rigorous.
You enjoy working in a team on a daily basis.
For you, success is only collective.
French would be a plus.
