SENIOR RUBY ENGINEER

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Ruby Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Romania. Our client is an end-to-end supply chain data management, responsible sourcing, and supplier engagement platform. It connects buyers and suppliers in one unified platform that enables responsible sourcing and emissions tracking, sharpens ESG risk detection, and elevates sustainability reporting. It was founded in 2012 and is based in California. We are looking for a Senior Ruby Developer with a strong emphasis on back-end development. Primary goals include building and maintaining the integrations with external data providers to efficiently deliver supply chain risk information normalized to a single-pane scorecard and deepening the product’s integration into the larger project’s ecosystem (Unified SSO, Azure Service Bus). This role is ideal for someone who thrives in building scalable, high-quality applications. A crucial aspect of this position is the ability to work within cross-functional squads, collaborating closely with team members across various disciplines to deliver robust solutions. Product Tech Stack - Backend: Ruby, Ruby on Rails, RSpec, JSON API, Sidekiq; Frontend: React + Type Script, JSON API, Playwright; DB: Postgre SQL, Redis; CI/CD: Git Hub Actions; Infrastructure: Heroku, Azure, Datadog, Honeybadger.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience in development with Ruby.
- Experience in building and maintaining RESTful APIs using JSON API.
- Knowledge of Postgre SQL and Redis.
- Comprehensive understanding of the web development process: design, development, deployment, and maintenance.
- Strong English skills.
- Communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate within squads.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Good skills for planning, tracking, and ensuring timely delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain applications collaborating within cross-functional squads: engineers, designers, and product managers.
- Actively participate in squad meetings to define, design, and ship new features, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Ensure applications' performance, quality, and responsiveness, leveraging cross-functional expertise to address complex challenges.
- Identify bottlenecks, fix bugs, and contribute to improving code quality and test automation within a team-oriented environment.
- Share your knowledge and technical expertise across the entire product development department.
