Job Overview
We are seeking a microbiologist to work at the Uvera Food laboratory. The ideal candidate will have a strong background and proven track record in microbiology and food analysis. The responsibilities will include conducting biological analysis for different types of food, prepare culture media for general microbial detection as well as selective microbiological strains of Salmonella, E-coli, and others. The responsibilities will also include monitoring and analyze the organoleptic qualities of the food samples throughout the shelf-life. You will also collaborate cross-functionally with the product team to keep them updated on the latest lab results.

Schedule: 8 hours shift, 6 working days/week.
Work location: KAUST Research & Technology Park, Thuwal, Saudi Arabia.
Transportation: Daily shuttles between Jeddah and KAUST are available.

Requirements
1- Microbiological Analysis:
- Perform routine biological analysis on different types of food products to assess microbial content.
- Utilize a variety of testing methods to detect and quantify microorganisms, including bacteria, yeast, and molds.
2- Culture Media Preparation:
- culture media for general microbial detection as well as selective media for specific microbiological strains such as Salmonella, E. coli, and other relevant pathogens.
3- Quality Control:
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of microbiological test results.
- Implement corrective actions when deviations are identified during testing processes.
4- Organoleptic Evaluation:
- and analyze the organoleptic qualities of food samples, assessing factors such as taste, texture, and aroma throughout their shelf-life.
5- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all experiments, tests, and results.
- Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing findings and provide recommendations for improvements.
6- Collaboration:
- collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including research and development, quality assurance, and production, to address microbiological aspects of food safety and quality.
7- Adherence to Regulations:
- compliance with local and international regulations and standards related to food safety and microbiology.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in microbiology research and/or food laboratories.
- Strong understanding of microbiological techniques and methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of selective media preparation for pathogen detection.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal English and Arabic communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with food microbiology and laboratory techniques.
- Familiarity with GSO, SFDA, ISO and other relevant quality standards.
- Knowledge of HACCP principles.
- Proficiency in using microbiological testing equipment.
Type of employment: Full time
Schedule: 8 hours shift, 6 working days/week.
Work location: KAUST Research & Technology Park, Thuwal, Saudi Arabia.
Transportation: Daily shuttles between Jeddah and KAUST are available.
