The school follows the English curriculum, greatly enriched by the local and international context. We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic Swimming Teacher to join a teaching team who will be committed to continuing the excellent reputation of the school. You will need to be reflective in your practice, highly-motivated and able to work collaboratively to provide outstanding learning experiences for all children. We are specifically looking for a swimming teacher who will run the Learn to Swim Program at the school. Proven experience with teaching swimming through structured Learn To Swim programs is an advantage. An updated lifeguard certification and comprehensive understanding of child safeguarding procedures and policies are necessary requirements for this role. We are looking for a teacher who is willing to contribute to our three strategic pillars of learning, enrichment and well-being.
PE and extra-curricular sport is a fundamental part of the experience at BISR and offers the vast amount of exposure that the students get to compete in organised activities in Riyadh; as such, we regularly attend the SAIKAC games in Saudi Arabia. With recent successful outings the expectations are, our teams are well prepared and competitive in all trips that we undertake. BISR have also competed in the COBIS games and plan to expand our competitive calendar as we continue to develop our sporting teams. Local competitions in Saudi Arabia and Riyadh are also expanding and the school supports and encourages the department to be part of all opportunities that are presented to our students.

Teachers who work at BISR should have:
Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher status.
  • Certificate of Education - PGCE or B.Ed.
  • Training or qualification relevant to the post.
Understanding

  • Experience of teaching within a Key Stage or subject.

  • Experience of working with second language students or prepared to undertake training.
Skills and Abilities
  • A detailed knowledge of the English National Curriculum.
  • Ability to organise a stimulating learning environment and demonstrate excellent creative teaching skills.
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues in preparing for learning and teaching.
  • Good organisation of recording and evaluating progress.
  • Show good communication skills when working with pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • Effective skills in managing and organising own time and directing deployment of teaching assistants.
  • Good ICT skills to be effective in your job.
  • An understanding of Assessment for Learning Strategies and use of this to inform future planning.
  • The desire to develop knowledge of the curriculum above and below the preferred key stage or in a cross-curricular context.
