As the head of Lending APAC, you are a dynamic and multifaceted senior leader who will lead the regional business through a pivotal phase of growth and transformation. Anchored in the Wholesale Banking Lending strategy, you are responsible for overseeing and managing a diversified lending portfolio, ensuring a balanced mix of loan products and client segments to strengthen portfolio resilience and support strategic growth objectives. You will develop and grow teams within your scope, including Corporate Sector Lending, Structured Export Finance, FI and Nonbank FI Lending, Sector & Specialised Lending and Portfolio Management.

In this role, you are also responsible for ensuring effective control frameworks comply with and are in line with relevant policies and regulations. You are a core member of several committees including the Asia Senior Management Team, Regional Non-Financial Risk Committee, Regional Green Light Committee, and the Global Lending Management Team.

The team consists of around 90 people across 11 markets including Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

As Head of Lending APAC, you have a hierarchical reporting line to the Head of WB APAC and a functional reporting line to the Global Head of Lending.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of Role include:

Further develop and execute the regional Lending strategy, ensuring it is aligned with the greater ING WB strategy, the global Lending strategy, and the WB APAC strategy.
Manage the Dynamic Plan, ensuring teams meet performance targets across financial and non-financial KPIs.
Own Lending as a product in WB APAC to drive profitability and growth.
Ensure Lending colleagues understand the WB strategy, the global WB Lending strategy, and the WB APAC strategy, as well as their role in growing the difference for our clients, our people, and society.
Manage a diversified lending portfolio, ensuring balanced exposure across sectors, products, and client segments to optimize risk and returns.
Oversee governance and reporting processes are transparent and integrity is maintained in all lending operations, including effective control frameworks comply with local, regional, and international regulations, staying abreast of evolving policy standards across APAC.
Collaborate closely with Risk teams to maintain a balanced risk profile, mitigating potential losses while supporting growth.
Be a champion of change and transformation, leading efforts in adopting new processes, technologies, and strategies to ensure seamless integration as well as encourage cross-functional collaboration and communication that unify the franchise.
Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and a willingness to challenge the status quo to drive innovation, address areas of improvement, and embrace new ways of working.
