The position has some specialist and technical aspects and will expose the successful candidate to different aspects of Competition Law and Economics.
A starting annual total cost to company package of R 1 227 388,98 negotiable commensurate with experience)

The main responsibilities of the incumbent will, inter alia, include:
- Assist in managing and conducting complex investigations regarding possible contraventions of the Act and/or assist in managing and conducting work streams in market inquiries.
- Assist with the legal/ economic analysis of cases and/or market inquiries.
- Present verbal and written reports and recommendations to the Managers and the Commissioner for decision-making.
- Act as a representative of the Commission within the framework of the Competition Act when communicating with business, consumers, employer/ employee representatives and other government agencies.
- Lead investigation teams and/or work streams in market inquiries, with assistance from the Principal Analyst.
- Brief legal counsel on matters to be referred to the Competition Tribunal.
- Appear on behalf of the Commission on non-complex cases
- Do research and investigation and prosecutions under supervision
- Provide legal opinions and economic research

We are looking for dynamic, hardworking and a committed individuals who meets the following requirements:
- Honours degree in Economics or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree. Masters in Economics or LLM will be given preference.
- 6 - 8 years Economics or Legal experience, it would be advantageous if this was in a Regulatory environment.
- Experience in Competition Law will be an advantage.
- Strong investigative acumen.
- Proven Project Management experience working in multi-disciplinary investigation teams.
- Practical work exposure to area of expertise will be further considered to balance against other requirements.
