Job Title: Instrumentation and Control Engineer
Division : Minerals
Location: Onsite, Hybrid, Madrid Spain
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
As a member of the Capital Projects Department, the Instrumentation and Control Engineer will support the Lead Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer in providing expertise and technical support in Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineering. This role focuses on Industrial Automation and Instrumentation discipline development, with involvement in site visits for supporting site personnel in commissioning and supervision of different contractors.
Electrical knowledge is also required for leading different assignments within the discipline.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop electrical specifications for external packages and subcontract external technical offices.
- Support commercial, project management, and site teams during sales and project execution phases.
- Participate in client meetings during bidding and project execution.
- Assist in project management of I&C disciplines, including scope, cost, design, schedule, vendor coordination, installation, and commissioning.
- Provide automation and process control expertise to enhance Weir Minerals’ Synertrex platform.
- Contribute to budget, quality, and schedule management of I&C engineering disciplines.
- Conduct site visits (15% of the time) for commissioning and supervision of works and contractors.
JOB KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline with extensive experience as a Design, Service, or Maintenance I&C or Automation Engineer.
- Preferred experience within the Mining Industry or other relevant industries.
- Advantageous exposure to control systems architecture configuration, process control software development, and advanced process control strategies.
- Excellent English language skills required; additional language skills are advantageous.

- Methodical approach with high attention to detail for accuracy.
- Proficient in diverse design and processing software for visualizing 3D layouts or flowsheets.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills across all business levels, with high personal integrity to protect company IP.
- Excellent English language skills, with a commitment to continuous improvement and willingness to travel.
