Nitro Capt is a climate-tech company electrifying the world’s largest chemical processes, the nitrogen fertilizer process, using air, water and renewable energy as the only input. The result is not only the most sustainable nitrogen fertilizers, but also the most cost efficient – a true revolution!
We need fertilizers in order to feed a growing population and nitrogen is the most commonly used plant nutrient. However, the nitrogen fertilizer industry today is fossil-dependent, and the CO2-emissions are at the same levels as the global aviation industry, 500 million tons yearly!
Our award-winning solution provides a quick transition into a decarbonized nitrogen fertilizer industry with a business model that makes our customer more profitable than continuing with fossil-based fertilizers.

Nitro Capt is offering an exciting internship to enthusiastic candidates to work on the development of our groundbreaking technology.
This can be a summer internship, an extended industrial placement or a Masters Thesis project.

Various task scope are available and to be discussed in collaboration with your academic supervisor in the area of:


  • Energy Optimization
  • Process Development and Scale Up
This will be a great opportunity to apply your academic learnings in an industrial setting.
You will work closely with a great team of highly skilled process and chemical engineers.
The position is at the Nitro Capt office at Green Innovation Park at the SLU campus in Uppsala, Sweden.

Education/Experience
Expected Coursework Completed
  • Studying Bachelors/Masters level education in chemical engineering/process engineering/industrial engineering/chemistry/sustainability
  • Fundamental knowledge of process design, preparation of heat and material balance, equipment sizing.
  • Knowledge of thermodynamic based process simulation (Aspen Plus, AVEVA, HYSYS etc) is an advantage
  • Knowledge/experience with chemical engineering-based experimentation, chemical analysis.
  • Knowledge of various analysis software and programming tools such as MATLAB, python and design tools such as Auto CAD would be an advantage.
  • Other Industrial experience is a plus but not necessary
  • Experience with R&D related to chemical engineering experimentation are also welcome. This includes, ability to design, execute and analyze relevant experiments to validate process parameters for design and scale up. Including knowledge of relevant chemical analysis.

  • Excellent English skills (both written and oral). Knowledge of a secondary European language is a plus.
