One of the biggest challenges within healthcare globally is reducing injuries that occur during care. Medical education and training are key, especially as a large part of the training can now be performed outside the operating room. Surgical Science is a world leader in the development of virtual reality simulators for evidence-based training. The simulators enable surgeons and other medical specialists to train and improve their psycho-motor skills and instrument handling before entering the clinical environment. Alongside proprietary products, Surgical Science works with simulation solutions for medical device companies that develop instruments for clinical use, such as robotic surgery.
The headquarters are in Gothenburg, with additional offices in Stockholm, Tel Aviv, Cleveland, Seattle and Shenzhen. The virtual reality simulators are used by medical training centers and institutes worldwide for practice, validation and certification of students, surgeons, and medical doctors. Our products help save lives and drive positive patient outcomes, every day across the world.

Chief of Staff – Job Description
Surgical Science has become the world-leading simulation company for medical training through a period of organic and acquisitive growth. However, the market is yet in its infancy with low penetration of our products, at the same time growing rapidly and with a growing demand for our products and services. As we write the new chapter in our growth journey, we aim to “Maintain the soul while embracing change”. This means that we need to set the company up for success in the future, while maintaining the parts which have made us successful until today.
To continue this trajectory, we are searching for a highly qualified Chief of Staff to work closely with our Global Leadership Team. From day 1, this person will have an immediate impact on our productivity by help shaping the strategy of the company, executing strategic initiatives, overseeing project management, and communicating objectives to departments. The ideal candidate will have proven success in a consultancy role, with a special focus on executive-level advising, strategy and operations management and interdepartmental collaboration.
Objectives & Responsibilities
- Design, develop and manage the strategy process of the company together with CEO, CFO and rest of the Global Management.
- Work with strategy development of the company and ensure strong buy-in across the entire company.
- Oversee strategic and operational business initiatives, from development through successful execution, under the guidance of senior leadership and department heads, across our offices around the world.
- Assist and communicate with Global Leadership Team in decision-making, program management, and initiative implementation. Ensure that decisions taken in the GLT create real business impact for the company. Be the right hand for CEO and CFO. Drive agenda planning for GLT according to the yearly calendar.
- Contribute to creating a process-oriented culture throughout the company and optimize processes for efficiency and productivity
- Develop the M&A process, including PMI, as well as support senior management in various M&A related projects.
- Serve as liaison with staff, executives, senior leaders, and CEO regarding project updates, proposals, planning and follow-up.
- Assist with preparation and dissemination of communication material primarily for internal purposes.
- 3-4 years of experience in strategy consultancy or in an executive role, with focus on operations management.
- Experience in planning and leading strategic initiatives.
- Experience in leading change management projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Versatile abilities, high capacity and extreme dedication to efficient productivity.
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Proven success in a project coordination role with project reporting skills.
- Nimble business mind, focused on developing creative solutions.
- Humble, responsive and driven. Ability to interact well with staff in different regions and parts of the organization.
