Animal Nutrition R&D Director
Location : Rolle, Switzerland
Position Overview:
The Animal Nutrition (AN) R&D Director is a senior leadership role responsible for guiding regional R&D teams across Europe. Reporting directly to the AN R&D Vice President, the R&D Director ensures that regional teams align with global strategies, maintain scientific excellence, and comply with company policies. The position is based in one of the following regions:
The AN R&D Director leads their regional teams, drives project management excellence, and represents the AN R&D function within their region, ensuring that all operations meet the highest scientific and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leading Regional Scientific Teams:

• Team Development: Organize, mentor, and develop a team of project leaders to enhance performance and innovation.
• Project Execution: Provide support and challenge to ensure efficient project execution, facilitating timely go/no-go decisions.
• Workload Optimization: Engage with the I2L Innovation Prioritization committee to optimize team workload and resource allocation.
• Collaboration: Partner closely with Segment leaders to execute the AN R&D species pipelines, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
• Internal Networking: Promote interaction between the R&D team and other organizational groups, acting as a key facilitator and internal connector.

2. Leading Regional Capabilities:

• Scientific Excellence: Maintain and advance R&D capabilities to meet the highest scientific standards, in coordination with the Scientific Coordinator and Lab Manager.
• Operational Excellence: Ensure top-tier execution of laboratory and farm operations, working closely with scientific, lab, and farm managers.
• Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee compliance with regional regulations, including safety (EHS), farming regulations, and ethical treatment of animals, in collaboration with internal experts.

3. Regional R&D Representation:

• Strategy Deployment: Implement and tailor the global AN R&D Strategy within the region to align with local requirements.
• Budget Management: Oversee regional budgets and capital expenditures, providing detailed financial planning and estimates for the 5-year strategic plan.
• Process Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to global and regional processes related to safety, finance, HR, and legal matters, including NDAs and contracts.

Qualifications:
Education: Ph.D. or degree in Animal Science Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
Experience:

• Demonstrated success in product development and project management within the animal nutrition sector.
• Extensive experience in leading and managing teams in a global, cross-cultural environment.

Skills:

• Leadership: Strong leadership capabilities to guide large, diverse teams.
• Ownership: High sense of responsibility and accountability.
• Project Management: Expertise in overseeing and delivering complex projects.
• Product Development: In-depth knowledge of animal nutrition, physiology, and farming practices.
• Fluency in English and French are required.

This role demands a seasoned professional with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of animal nutrition, and extensive experience in global R&D management. The successful candidate will be strategic, results-oriented, and capable of driving innovation and scientific excellence within a global framework.
