OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The Global Polio Eradication Initiative, mandated by the World Health Assembly to stop transmission of wild poliovirus, is a partnership spearheaded by WHO, Rotary International, US CDC, UNICEF and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and supported by BMGF. WHO is the lead technical agency. The Partnership has adopted a new strategy for 2022-2026, with a 5-year cost of US$ 4.8 billion. Given the current financial outlook and needs worldwide, the programme is gearing up for a lengthy fundraising period, starting with a pledging moment in October 2022.DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
- Steward a portfolio of donors - managing all aspects of day-to-day donor relations, including proposal writing, briefings, agreement negotiations and clearance, donor reporting, and contributions data tracking through WHO's internal system and GPEI mechanisms.
- Support the senior external relations officer on contributions tracking, internal clearances, and report-writing for the remaining donors.
- Under the guidance of the unit head, draft notes and content for leadership briefings, and write donor and Governing Bodies reports.
- Represent WHO in the development and delivery of partnership-wide resource mobilization strategies, initiatives and joint activities through the GPEI Resource Mobilization Group.
- Act as thematic lead for integration within the Resource Mobilization & Communications Unit, liaising with relevant WHO departments and GPEI groups to source content and evidence to make the case for investing.
- Engage with the relevant WHO external relations and resource mobilization teams to align with corporate priorities and maximize opportunities.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential:A Master's level degree in international relations, marketing, public health financing or other related area.
Experience
Essential:- At least 7 years resource mobilization experience, of which at least five years' exposure working in an international environment with NGOs, international organizations, international financing institutions and/or government agencies.
- Experience working for a UN agency in resource mobilization, preferably for polio eradication and/or immunization.
- Demonstrable experience in working as a member of a public-private partnership.
- Experience with private sector, individual donors or innovative financing mechanisms.
- Demonstrable experience writing donor proposals and grant reports.
Skills
- Excellent written and oral communications skills, organization and diplomacy.
- Familiarity with WHO and its work with partnerships.
- Significant experience developing and implementing resource mobilization strategies as part of a partnership.
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues at national and international levels, and work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and work to deadlines.

REMUNERATION
WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 77,326 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 6025 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
