As an Optical Network Automation Engineer you will be responsible for developing and testing new services and functionalities for our optical transmission networks, as well as automating tests and processes in operations. In this context, you will be required to work with a variety of technologies, network protocols and hardware. By working in a team and liaising closely with suppliers and other stakeholders, you will contribute to the delivery of an optimal and efficient network. Your commitment to continuous improvement enables us to provide our customers with the best network.

Design, implementation, integration, testing and support of the operations team (Dev Ops)
Troubleshooting and analysis in lab and production environments
Continuous improvement and automation of technical operation and test processes

Your skills
Degree (ETH/Uni/FH) in transmission technology, electrical engineering, computer science, telematics, or a related field.
Basic knowledge in networking (Layer 1-4)
Programming and automation skills (e.g. Python, git, CI/CD, Gitlab, docker, REST APIs, Unix)
Ability to work independently with a curious and open mindset and a strong interest in learning
What makes you stand out
Experience or willingness to familiarise yourself with testing and test automation
Knowledge of optical transport networks (DWDM, OTN), synchronisation (PTP) and network protocols (Ethernet, IP, TCP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, Netconf/Yang, ...) is an advantage
Initial experience in Kubernetes, Nagios, Prometheus, Splunk, Security and Cloud is an advantage
Very good German and/or English
