Specialist Solutions Architect – Database

- 10+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 5+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 5+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
AWS Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) are technologists with deep domain specific expertise, able to address advanced concepts and feature designs. As part of the AWS sales organization, SSAs work with customers who have complex challenges that require expert-level knowledge to solve.
Database SSA is subject matter expertise in designing data solutions that run on AWS including relational databases (e.g. Oracle, MS-SQL, Postgre SQL, My SQL, Maria DB), purpose-built databases (e.g. Dynamo DB, Elasti Cache, Document DB, Neptune), and modern data platform. You will focus on customer solutions of high volume OLTP/OLAP environments, designing and deploying petabyte-scale data services. The ideal candidate would have advanced experience and knowledge of data operations, security, and governance. The person would also manage how decisions in each area affect an overall solution.
The ideal candidate will be …
- Hands-on experiences: 10+ years experience with Relational and/or Non-Relational Database implementations, operations, performance tuning, and/or solution deployment experience in a business-critical, high-availability context (Oracle, SQL Server, My SQL, Postgre SQL, Maria DB, Dynamo DB, Mongo DB, Cassandra, and/or Redis).
- Database Migration experiences: Overall migration plan, Schema/Code migration, Change Data Capture (CDC) plan, resources plan, fallback plan, and etc.
- Be an Architect: Ensure success in helping customers accelerate their adoption of our data services. Guide and motivate the development of artifacts, workshops, proof of concept, best practices, and other high-value customer facing guidances.
- Trusted advisor to customers: Be able to facilitate relationships with senior technical executives, as well as easily interact and give guidance to software developers, IT operations staff, and system architects. Be able to materialize an overall recommendation (or proposal) based on customer needs and efficiently communication to technical and business decision makers.
- Vertical knowledge on financial industries, retails, and telco; able to articulate end-to-end information flow of these focused vertical; and have related experience.
- Have a business consultant capacity to work with customer’s line-of-business owner; explore improvement areas of customer’s business; and priorities’ strong ROI business initiatives with customers.
- Generative AI or machine learning related experiences are plus
- Work directly with customers’ technical resources to devise and recommend solutions based on the understood requirements. Drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, standard methodologies, project management and risk mitigation
- Think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges in an enterprise environment
- Work closely with AWS account team, Service Engineering, and Professional Services team to help ensure the success of projects
- Consult for optimal design of data solutions including analyzing complex distributed production deployments, and making recommendations to optimize performances.
- Develop innovative solutions to solve complex business and technology problems
