JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
This Legal Counsel will support Maersk's legal matters for Thailand and be an integrated part of Maersk's Global and APA Legal team. This role reports to the Senior Legal Counsel of the Mekong Area (Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia). Some key responsibilities of this role are:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
This Legal Counsel will support Maersk's legal matters for Thailand and be an integrated part of Maersk's Global and APA Legal team. This role reports to the Senior Legal Counsel of the Mekong Area (Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia). Some key responsibilities of this role are:

Support the Senior Legal Counsel in providing legal services to local management and commercial functions.

Manage and assist in reviewing commercial operational documents from a legal perspective to align with Maersk legal standards.

Proactively flag risks with a commercial and pragmatic approach.

Provide support on initiatives and improvement in legal support.

Responsible for safeguarding Maersk’s values, interests, and reputation and "getting the best possible deal" across the line.

Advice and support on drafting of commercial contracts and other legal documents.

Monitor regulatory updates and flag material regulation changes that can affect Maersk’s business.

Assist with strategic growth projects and investments.

Support on handling and overseeing litigation in the area.

Support on various engagements with authorities.

Support on managing external legal counsel.

Support on identifying and addressing legal issues in a pragmatic and risk-based fashion.

Collaborate and coordinate with Senior Legal Counsel to work with other departments and functions such as Finance, Tax, Compliance, Procurement, etc.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Bachelor or Master of Laws. Minimum 6-8 years of relevant legal experience. Experience in private practice (law firm) is a plus.

Able to work independently. Experience in the shipping or logistics industry is a plus.

Have solid experience with general corporate, regulatory, and commercial legal issues.

Strong experience with reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts; able to identify and understand commercial context.

Able to collaborate with the business to identify issues and propose practical solutions.
-
Have a strong commercial mindset. Able to deliver high-quality results while maintaining a high level of integrity.
-
Effective communicator, empathy, personal tact.
-
Well organized, eye for detail, punctual.

Fluent in both Thai and English
