Specifically for our Packaging team within Izmir, Turkey, we are searching for a new Snr./ Packaging Engineer. Within this role, you will take functional leadership for all stages of project-based packaging development, including planning, de-risking, accurate and timely information and technical insight to the teams, partners, markets, and functions to ensure optimal decision-making.
Main Accountabilities -

Achieve results by applying a strong level of technical competence as a specialist in the design, development, control or/and the implementation of complex packaging and process quality practices where few known precedents exist and apply sound engineering solutions to meet the PMI technical and business needs. - Lead sophisticated and highly visible projects by using project management tools (PBO). Ensuring that complete documentation of relevant project information such as plans, budget and resource requirements is available, and timely communicate project phase updates to all relevant parties, to guarantee efficient communication flow, easier decision making and to maintain principles through project journeys.
- Supply and implement department's innovation, sustainability, and productivity (ISP) strategies ensuring performance, quality, compliance, consumer, and commercial requirements are aligned and integrated to the departmental strategy.
- Sustain an innovative and consumer centric culture, to develop new products, processes, and systems. With a high level of engagement and strategic partnership on departmental priorities with internal and external parties, assuring technical feasibility according to PMI requirements.
- Anticipate future trends in packaging and stay ahead of consumer, technology, competitor insights and industrial developments, ensuring alignment with key organisational objectives. Enabling a robust and timely IP strategy for key initiatives and conduct active industry analysis in accordance with strategic requirements.
- Contribute to departmental planning and accountable for delivering strategic targets. Delivering accurate and timely budget preparation for their projects and report spend vs budget.
- Contribute to long-term business sustainability programs including continuous improvement to optimize the team’s ways of working and enable greater organizational agility and performance improvement efforts. Support processes analysis to optimize and enhance service quality.
- Ensure projects and programs are conducted in line with PMI Compliance Policies, ensuring that activities relating to these policies are fully respected, integrated and understood by partners, and implement adequate processes to ensure the safeguard of information of a confidential nature.
We are looking for someone with -

Engineering / Science Degree with a focus on Packaging. - Validated experience in tobacco or consumer goods industry with professional know-how and exposure to printing/packaging development (packaging materials, printing and converting).
- Clear and proven Project Management/ Initiative Management capability.
- Material science and material manufacturing process (paper making, plastics, flexible materials) is a plus.
- Packaging Material Qualification and Material Specification knowledge.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing (Open+, IWS, IL6S, TPM, Manufacturing Excellence, etc) principles and their interaction between packaging (especially relating to Initiative Management and Vertical Start-Up (VSU)).
- Good command of English is a must.
