These positions are located in the Operations and Advocacy Division (OAD) in the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). OCHA is part of the United Nations Secretariat responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies. OCHA also ensures there is a framework within which each actor can contribute to the overall response efforts. OCHA's mission is to mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors in order to alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies; advocate the rights of people in need; promote preparedness and prevention and facilitate sustainable solutions. The HFU manages, among others, the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund (UHF), which is a multidonor country-based pooled fund managed by OCHA Ukraine under the leadership of the Humanitarian Coordinator. It receives unearmarked contributions from donors into a single fund. The funds are used for ongoing humanitarian operations and to respond to new emergencies. This position-specific job opening is being advertised for two (2) positions as Finance Officer/Pooled Fund in Kharkiv and Odesa, in Ukraine, with significant travel within Ukraine expected. Under the overall supervision of the Humanitarian Affairs Officer/Head of Humanitarian Financing Unit (HFU) Ukraine, the incumbents will report to the Finance Officer leading the finance team in the HFU. *NOTE: The duty stations may be subject to change, as the operational situation in the country evolves.
