Shelter and Infrastructure Assistant

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 700 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.
About the job:
Shelter and Infrastructure Assistant plays an important role in the DRC response to the needs of South Ukraine. Promotion of projects aimed at the development of alternative energy, electricity, combined generation of thermal and electrical energy, centralized combustion and refrigeration, as well as the generation of rare and gas fuel. This specifically includes providing technical support, ensuring effective planning, promoting and further monitoring all technical aspects of the sector's activities in programs implemented by the DRC.
Shelter and Infrastructure Assistant of the project for the development of alternative energy encourages good cooperation with relevant parties and other humanitarian actors in order to ensure proper implementation and coordination of activities and DRC sectors. This role has an area focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the South Ukraine area.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
Program and operational activities:
- Ensure effective and efficient implementation of the program
- Participate in the preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual main reports and budgets for donors
- Collaborate with relevant internal technical experts on current sector issues .
- Ensure strong integration with all other sectors of the DRC. Work closely with other departments to ensure efficient operations
- Develop project plans, organize and check the cost assessment of project solutions;
- Develop and control project tools, control and check project decisions and carry out a
- comprehensive check of project documentation;
- Prepare tender documentation for the implementation of construction projects,
- Monitor and evaluate projects, control the work schedule
- Ensure the preparation of distribution plans and their timely transfer to the logistics department
- Prepare packages of documents for procurement (technical specifications for procurement);
- Cooperate with contractors, contractors and subcontractors.
To be successful in the role of Shelter and Infrastructure Assistant, we expect you to have at least 1 year of experience in the implementation of energy projects focused on alternative energy. Also we expect the following:
- Experience of working with energy sector facilities, equipment selection.
- Practical experience regarding technological processes of production of thermal and electric energy at KSU, heat pumps, solar stations.
- Experience in operation of alternative energy facilities and cogeneration plants.
- Knowledge of constructions of various types of alternative energy equipment and their features.
- Developed analytical abilities, technical literacy.
- Specialized higher technical education (thermal engineering, electrical engineering, electromechanics) not lower than a bachelor's degree.
- Knowledge of the normative construction base, DBN, PUE, DSTU, NPAOP, NAPB.
- An ability to perfectly read drawings.
- PC knowledge (Word, Exel, Autocad, CAD) at the level of a confident user.
- Personal discipline, punctuality, responsibility in decision-making, honesty, sociability.
- Commitment to learning and implementing the organization's policies and procedures.
- Basic level of English language.
- Fluency in Ukrainian language.

We offer:
Contract length: open ended contract after 3 month probation period.
Level: I – Non-Management
Designation of Duty Station: Mykolaiv - Full time based
Start date: As soon as possible.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for
national staff.
