The successful candidate will manage and oversee all engineering activities, ensuring that designs, plans, and technical deliverables meet project requirements and comply with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Leadership: Lead and manage the engineering team throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through to delivery, ensuring alignment with project goals and technical specifications.
- Design Management: Oversee the development and approval of engineering designs, ensuring they meet all regulatory, client, and safety requirements.
- Technical Coordination: Coordinate with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of all design elements.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality control procedures, ensuring that engineering designs and outputs meet the required standards and specifications.
- Compliance and Regulatory Oversight: Ensure all engineering activities comply with local regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Risk Management: Identify potential engineering risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimise impact on project schedules and outcomes.
- Team Development: Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation within the engineering team.
- Resource Allocation: Manage and allocate engineering resources efficiently to meet project demands, ensuring all tasks are completed within timeframes and budgetary constraints.
- Client Liaison: Serve as the technical point of contact for clients, providing expert advice and ensuring client satisfaction with the engineering deliverables.
- Value Engineering: Proactively seek opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements without compromising quality or safety.
- Reporting: Provide regular technical reports to senior management, detailing progress, challenges, and any required changes to project scope or design.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. A Master’s degree or professional engineering certifications (e.g., CEng, PEng) would be advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum of 10-12 years' experience in civil and rail infrastructure projects, with at least 5 years in an engineering management role.
- Regional Experience: Prior experience working on engineering projects in the Middle East, particularly in Dubai or the UAE, is highly desirable.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, rail systems, construction methods, and project delivery.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with industry-standard software such as Auto CAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant design and project management tools.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to identify engineering challenges and provide innovative, practical solutions.
- Leadership: Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Adaptable and capable of managing changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Culturally aware and able to work in a diverse team environment
