HSL was formed to provide pathology services to the NHS Trusts and has expanded further to provide services to other NHS Trusts. About the role:

A vacancy has arisen for a Fixed term Associate Practitioner in the Clinical Biochemistry department at our Northwick Park and Central Middlesex hospital laboratories. You will be expected to assist senior staff to monitor service delivery and be involved in maintain turnaround times and service improvements, including training of other staff members.

Main Duties:

Duties will include sorting, checking, labelling, and running Biochemistry blood test samples, set-up, and quality control of a range of laboratory equipment and maintenance of records and reports.

The role will also include taking telephone enquiries in the laboratories and maintaining the laboratory as a clean, tidy, and safe environment in which to work.

The laboratory operates a 24/7 service and the successful candidate will be expected to participate in all shift work which includes day shifts, late shifts, Nights and weekends.

The successful candidate will ideally be a confident user of computer systems with accurate data entry and processing a pre-requisite with excellent attention to detail and a careful and tidy attitude to their work.

The Laboratory is responsible for servicing the Biochemistry and Virology pathology needs of a large GP catchment area, and the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (one of the largest integrated NHS Trusts in the country). The Biochemistry department is divided across 2 sites Northwick Park Hospital and Central Middlesex Hospital, both of which have excellent to Central London. We are UKAS accredited and a recognised HCPC / IBMS training laboratory for both registration and specialist portfolios.

You will be working 37.5 hrs per week on a 24/7 shift pattern which includes early, lates and nights. Salaries are comparable with agenda for change pay scales dependant on experience.
