Technology Stack:
Working on a greenfield project where nothing is currently built. The project is to produce a mobile application and supporting cloud services for a major UK National brand. The technology stack is up for discussion, but the starting points is:
Frontend Mobile:
React Native with custom Swift and Kotlin modules.
Frontend Web:
React sharing some components between the mobile and web using Storybook as a central repository.
Backend:
Written in Python with a combination of Django/Fast API services with the possibility of using Serverless infrastructure were possible.
Platform:
Infrastructure as Code will be in either Pulumi set inside an AWS Cloud provider.
There will be a Snowplow data pipeline alongside the main business logic.
About you:
We are seeking a Backend Engineer with a passion for cloud and Dev Ops engineering to play a pivotal role in building out a greenfield project from nothing to a national brand. This is a high-impact role with a dynamic and collaborative product engineering organisation. As a member of the engineering team, you will be expected to hit the ground running. You will have extensive input into the direction and how the product will be built.
Your primary mission will be to buildout from scratch all the backend system and third-party integrations to enable the mobile and web applications to function along with providing services to other business units to enable them to do their job. This is a shared ownership team, so you relish in the operational side of the work as well as the building side, working with members of the Platform team.

Responsibilities:

• Write clean and well-documented code, following best practices and coding standards.
• Produce fully tested code following Test-Driven Development
• Being involved with the Architecture and design discussions.
• Designing and building Micro Services/Distributed system using Event driven architecture.
• Domain modelling
• Database modelling
• Maintain and manage cloud infrastructure in a shared ownership approach
• Mentor, train, and develop other members of the team, and continuously improve the working practices and capability of the team. 
• Spearhead and maintain a data driven, user centric approach, and be actively involved in local and global community to be at the forefront of innovation. 
• Collaborating with your peers from product, design, and engineering on a cross-functional, outcome-based team to craft and deliver on OKRs 

Required:

• Fluent in Python
• Proven experience in cloud and mobile
• Experience in AWS cloud computing
• Experience in backend engineering
• Experience in leading feature development
• Experience with technologies like Docker, Serverless and Microservices
• Experience in interviewing, team building, mentoring and people development.
• Extensive experience working iteratively in an agile environment.
• Excellent problem-solving attitude and ability to think on your feet.
• Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery as cornerstones of the development practices.
• Working in a fast-paced environment where requirements and projects are always changing.

Location:

• Hybrid. Our colleagues are primarily remote, with some colocation in London.
