Job Title: Scientist (Cell & Molecular Biology)
Kodiform Therapeutics aims to develop small molecule inhibitors targeting intrinsically disordered proteins using intracellular antibody based screening technology. Intrinsically disordered proteins were considered to be undruggable as they lack a defined three-dimensional structure and available binding pockets. By utilising our diverse intracellular antibody libraries, Kodiform Therapeutics will identify new binding sites on these disordered proteins, and develop small molecule drugs to inhibit their protein-protein interactions.
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled scientist to join our exciting biopharma start-up. As a Scientist with proven expertise in molecular biology, you will support our drug discovery efforts to target disordered proteins. Join this early start up to develop your scientific career alongside the company.
Responsibilities
· Use the Kodiform Therapeutics i DAb screening platform to identify new binding sites on hard-to-drug proteins.
· Perform, develop and troubleshoot assays to identify intracellular antibodies which bind to disordered proteins in mammalian cell models.
· Analyse and validate positive hits in mammalian cell models to identify the mechanism of protein-protein inhibition using in-cell and molecular biology techniques.
· Communicate findings through presentations, reports, and scientific publications.
· Be an effective member of our laboratory team, contributing to the efficient running of the lab, including health and safety compliance.
· Keep meticulous records and maintain sample archives.
Essential experience
· Strong expertise in mammalian cell culture techniques and cellular transfection methods and other cell assays such as BRET
· Extensive molecular biology experience including cloning PCR, Western blot, ELISA and other cellular assays.
Expertise in flow cytometry especially cell cycle analysis, cell sorting experience.
· Broad understanding of assay development and validation
· Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workload and meet project timeline
Desirable experience
· Familiarity with CRISPR tagging.
· Experience with protein expression and purification
Education
· Ph D in Molecular Cell Biology or other relevant discipline
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £30,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
Additional pay:
Reference ID: S(cell and molecular biology)
