Job Title: Chef
Salary: £12,140 pro rata (£27,248 FTE)
Location: St Padarn’s Institute, Llandaff, Cardiff
Contract: Permanent (term time only – 39 weeks per year)
Reporting to: Learner Services Manager
Hours of Work: Part-time annualised hours, 704 hours per year.
(The nature of this role requires flexibility in terms of working hours)
A good quality, healthy, friendly catering service is essential in helping to create the sense of community which is key to St Padarn’s work. The Chef’s role plays an important part in this. It includes planning, preparing, serving and clearing of meals and refreshments, maintaining impeccable standards of hygiene and safety throughout the operation, as well as a polite and approachable manner.
Person Specification
Essential
a) Professional catering qualification e.g. the City and Guilds Diploma in Professional Cookery.
b) Minimum Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate.
c) Extensive industry experience of kitchen and food service management.
d) Supervision experience.
e) Ability to work under pressure.
f) Ability to work as part of a team.
g) Ability to work without close supervision.
h) Flexibility in working hours.
i) Good understanding of menu planning, taking into account nutritional content and specific dietary requirements.
j) An understanding of budgeting.
k) Attention to detail.
l) Proactive and able to problem solve.
m) An empathy with the mission and ministry of the Church in Wales.
