We’re looking for someone who is creative, with the ability to think outside-the-box. You’ll be detailed-oriented, with strong problem-solving technical and analytical skills. You’ll be a good collaborator that’s equally comfortable working with others as you are working independently.
Your responsibilities:

- Craft tailored markup for more complex layouts when required.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to address production concerns, including font selection and licensing, optimal conversion formats, cost management, and budget adherence.
- Adhere to strict e Book publication deadlines.
- Conduct thorough technical checks and corrections for all pre-publication Complex e Books.
- Continuously monitor code performance, reporting any platform behaviour changes to the Technical & Design Manager.
- Provide support to e Book Coordinators and Editorial or Production teams on technical and creative issues related to complex conversions.
- Assist with research and development.
- Review error reports from e Book Coordinators, deliver biweekly analyses to suppliers, provide quarterly summaries to e Book Operations, and escalate critical errors to the Technical & Design Manager.
- Manage the Error Log, ensuring data accuracy for reporting and updating the Quality Dashboard as necessary.
- Generate weekly reports on Biblio to ensure all Complex titles are accurately reflected in the schedule, updating any changes in publication dates, titles, and authors.
- Monitor the production of current and upcoming Complex titles.
- Assess titles and proactively engage with Production Controllers about potential conversions for the Complex Schedule.
- Coordinate, assign, and track Complex conversion quality control with the e Book Coordinator, ensuring timely completion of quality checks.
You will:
- Have experience with EPUB and other digital formats and reading system technologies.
- Have strong working knowledge of XHTML5 and CSS, related technologies being a plus.
- Be comfortable hand-coding markup.
- Have a good understanding of core visual design principles and have a strong eye for detail.
- Be familiar with web content accessibility guidelines and related technologies.
- Have relevant experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, In Design, and Illustrator.
- Have practical experience working with Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel; experience with data visualisations being a plus, though not essential.
- Be a self-starter that can effectively manage your time and workload.
- Be a creative problem solver with an ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies.
- Possess strong communication skills, able to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Be passionate about both books and technology, especially the intersection between both.
- Have some practical front-end web design experience, though not essential.
