Social Security Scotland are currently seeking applications for a Data Quality Analyst to join our talented Data Management Team. You’ll play a key role in driving continuous improvements in data quality processes, conducting insightful analyses, and developing governance frameworks that elevate decision-making for both the organisation and the public. The Data Management Team work alongside our Data Protection colleagues and other data professionals within Chief Digital Office to ensure Social Security Scotland complies with its obligations, so it can deliver its full data potential to enable better decisions for the organisation and the public. We view data as an invaluable business asset and central to the success of our organisation.

As part of the Data Management Office at Social Security Scotland, you will play a pivotal role in making continuous improvements to policies, standards, and processes. These are essential in progressing and maturing our management of data.

Can you help Social Security Scotland ensure it works with the best quality of data?

We are looking for a lead data quality analyst who can shape our data quality work and help build and operationalise a comprehensive Data Quality framework. You will work with a wide range of people across the organisation to understand what they need from their data from client facing to working with owners to understand their quality expectations. Shaping Data Quality improvements through to resolution.

You will have the opportunity to lead work, identifying core quality expectations on centralised assets. Translating them into data quality measurables on critical data assets, working closely with other data disciplines to ensure that those assets are fit for purpose. This includes the ability to understand the business context as well as the data meaning to ensure that the business outcomes are fulfilled.

  • B3 - Salary between £45449 - £54419 plus a £5000 annual Digital, Data and Technology (DDa T) pay supplement after a 3 month qualifying period. This supplement is backdated and paid with your monthly salary.

DDa T
Pay Supplement
This post attracts a £5,000 DDa T pay supplement after a 3 months DDa T competency qualifying period. The payment will be backdated to your start date in the role. Pay supplements are temporary payments designed to address recruitment and retention issues caused by market pressures and are subject to regular review. This post is part of the Scottish Government DDa T profession. As a member of the profession, you will join the professional development scheme, currently BCS Role Model plus.

Hybrid Working
We embrace a hybrid working style where all colleagues will spend time in either our Glasgow or Dundee offices. There is an expectation of a minimum of 2 days per week in your assigned location. Base office location can be in either Dundee or Glasgow.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops and implements Data Quality Improvement processes, analysing data quality issues and making recommendations for remediation in line with data standards.
  • Conducts data profiling to assess the quality dimensions of critical datasets and establishes core measurements that align with the strategic value of data assets.
  • Performs complex data analysis using various methods and tools, assuring and peer-reviewing the outputs of colleagues.
  • Facilitates meetings and workshops to discuss data quality analysis with both technical and non-technical staff. Building strong relationships with Data owner across the organisation to improve Data Quality outcomes.
  • Produces written and verbal data analysis outputs, such as reports and presentations, tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Defines and applies data management processes, governance mechanisms, and tooling while further developing a data quality framework within the organisation.
  • Engages in data mapping and pipelining for data integration, ensuring compliance with meta-data standards for semantic interoperability.
  • Manages data analysis projects, resolves data issues, and develops guidance to support others in embedding good data quality practice within design and throughout development.

2. You are a seasoned data management professional, employing relevant tools and methods in order to apply data governance according to established policies and standards.
3. You have solid experience in mapping, linking and cleansing data in order to carry out data quality and analysis activities.
4. You have led data related projects, facilitated technical workshops, with technical and non-technical staff, presenting your technical output to deliver customers solutions according to agreed requirements.
