Skill Set has been designing, developing, and delivering training programmes since 1991. We provide a full range of training services, including training needs analysis, design and delivery of training programmes, e Learning, and learning management systems implementation and support. We have a wide range of Moodle customers from both the public and private sector. We have a fantastic and diverse team, which has a real family feel and great ongoing partnerships with our clients. This is a really exciting opportunity to join our expanding team and to help us shape the future growth of the business.
Job Summary:
We are seeking to appoint a PHP Moodle developer on a permanent basis. This is an exciting and varied role, which will suit someone with a customer focus and who is a problem solver at heart. The role has two primary functions:
1. To be responsible for the on-going maintenance of Moodle virtual learning environment (VLE) and Joomla sites for Skill Set customers. This includes the servers they run on.
2. To be the technical lead for customer implementations of new sites, including bespoke plug-in development and the implementation of new functionality on existing customer platforms.
You’ll be confident working to maintain and develop our VLE (Moodle) and other online platforms to support Skill Set customers. If you’re into Moodle, love being innovative, and enjoy working in a wide range of contexts, then this could well be the next role for you!
Your Priorities Will Include:
You will have demonstrable experience developing web functionality using the following technologies:
· PHP, including object-oriented design.
· HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
Experience of Bootstrap would be an advantage.
You will have experience of designing and implementing Moodle sites, including maintenance, upgrades and plug-in creation.
Experience of configuration and plugin development for Joomla and/or Wordpress would be an advantage.
You will be confident in using Git or other version control system to track all changes and resolve conflicts.
Experience of Linux, AWS and Ansible would be an advantage.
Experience of Behat testing would be an advantage.
You will be confident in managing conflicting demands and changing priorities, and be happy to work on multiple projects at the same time.
You will have used Jira, or a similar tool, to track and manage your project tasks.
You will be experienced in a similar role and/or have a qualification in a relevant field.
Effective communication will come naturally to you.
You will have good interpersonal skills.
You will enjoy working in a team but also be able to show that, when required, you can work on customer projects independently.
