The role
As a Driver Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a diverse role and includes the movement, storage and level 1 maintenance of a range of military and civilian type vehicles. You’ll support vehicle mechanics and the site in all aspects of vehicle movement which obviously allows for the vehicle mechanics to focus on their core work repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.

Day-to-day, you’ll load and off-load Vehicles and Main Equipment (Va ME) and associated sub-systems, movement of Va ME through receipt, issue, inspect, storage and maintenance, assisting with Va ME related tasks as required.

• Vehicle or equipment fault reporting where appropriate
• Carry out general vehicle or equipment husbandry
• Checking weather proofing of Va ME
• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe place of work

This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Ashchurch.

Essential experience of the Driver Specialist:

• Vehicle Fleet Management and logistics experience - preferably MOD
• Knowledge of Joint service publication 800 (In particular - Vol 5 and Vol 7)
• IT literate in MS Office software (Word – Excel - Power Point - Outlook - Visio - Access)

Qualifications for the Driver Specialist:

• Category ‘C+E’ driving licence
• Category ‘H’ driving licence – Desirable (Training available)
• MHE Operator – desirable (Training available)
