The team:
The Chief Technology Organisation (CTO) within Global Technology is responsible for designing, building and managing critical systems and platforms across the enterprise, lines of business and regions. This includes delivering end-to-end technology infrastructure solutions across hosting, application services, network and data platforms and end-user computing services.
Programme Overview
Our full time 12-month Industrial Placement (IP) program is designed to offer you a broad and exciting experience of work. During your placement, you have the opportunity to learn from our technology specialists and gain hands on experience by completing onboarding rotations, prior to fully integrating into one of our specialist teams.
Training and Development
Your training and development is our top priority with extensive formal training offered at the start of the programme in addition to on the job support, educational speaker events and mentorship throughout.
You will have the opportunity to participate in industry standard courses and certifications such as ITIL, Azure, CCNA, and others.
Responsibilities
As an Industrial Placement Intern, your key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Deploying and supporting core infrastructure that underpins the daily operations of the entire bank, from worldwide networks to modern workstation platforms
- Designing on-premise and cloud solutions used by multiple lines of business, handling billion dollars of transactions per day
- Working with various platform teams and Business Technology Groups to help build out automated processes
- Partaking in global incident and event management processes
- Developing cutting-edge solutions to drive operational excellence
- Liaising with business management functions
- Learning and developing skills relating to a broad range of technologies, platforms and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes
- Translating business requirements into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and playbooks for deployment in compliance with architecture standards and policies
Eligibility
- Candidates are required to be pursuing an undergraduate or post graduate degree from an accredited college or university with a graduation timeframe between September 2026 and June 2027.
- Achieved minimum of 112 UCAS point (or equivalent) and on track for a minimum 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent)
- To be eligible to apply for this role in Chester, you must have the right to work in the UK as visa sponsorship is not available.
- Must be available to join the programme from June 2025 to June 2026.

- Show demonstrable evidence of self-learning outside of studies, and efforts to advance technical skills
- Display clear motivation for exploring a Technology career within financial services
- Demonstrate capacity for innovative thinking and strong problem solving
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with a variety of people
- Display evidence of strong teamwork, leadership, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Fluency in written and spoken English is a pre-requisite
- Demonstrates integrity and ethics by earning other’s trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions
