Job overview
Liverpool SAFE is a Df E funded programme aiming to reduce youth violence through re-engagement with education. One of the interventions being funded in Liverpool is the training and implementation of Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSAs) across a number of primary and secondary schools.
Once trained, ELSAs work with pupils individually, or in small groups if appropriate, in order to develop their emotional literacy skills. ELSAs are trained to support pupils in the following ways: managing emotions including anger and anxiety; social and friendship skills; loss, bereavement and family break up; active listening and reflective conversation skills.
ELSAs guide ‘helping conversations’ where they help young people to explore possible strategies and solutions for themselves. Pre-intervention tools are used to identify individual needs and set aims. Using activities and/or games, the pupil is supported to develop new skills and coping strategies
North Liverpool Academy is an exciting and dynamic inner-city, 11-18 comprehensive Academy with over 1300 students on roll. In recent years the Academy has enjoyed a period of significant drive and aspiration leading to an accelerated, secure and rising trend of student success. This has been achieved through meeting the needs of individual students and a relentless focus on teaching and learning.
North Liverpool Academy is committed to providing the very best educational environment and professional development programmes for all our staff. We invite you to consider joining our highly enthusiastic and dedicated staff.
As a member of the Northern Schools Trust, North Liverpool Academy offers fantastic opportunities for staff to develop their careers within the context of a group of exceptional schools.
This Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
