Mental Health Recovery Worker
The Women’s Wellness Zone (WWZ) is a service for women over the age of 18 residing in the London Borough of Ealing who require support with a variety of complex needs including substance misuse, mental health, domestic abuse/violence, sex work/trafficking and offending behaviour.
The aim of the service is to provide the women with the support across the range of domains highlighted above, within a safe and confidential environment. To support with sustained recovery, improve health and wellbeing, and place in society.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a holistic package of care that enables women to improve their life opportunities. You will be a champion for mental health within the WWZ team, providing guidance/advice to colleagues who bring other specialisms to the team. You will support your clients to access additional mental health support and therapy at Cape or with other community based mental health services inclusive of Ealing MINT teams.
You will be skilled at building trust and relationships with vulnerable women who have complex needs, many of whom initially, may be resistant to engage with the service. It is a challenging environment, many of our clients have profoundly traumatic and abusive histories and live chaotic lives, although desperate to change their lives, they may be fearful of doing so, gaining trust will be an important part of this work.
The successful candidate will also facilitate access to the pharmacological interventions such as Opiate Substitute Treatment (OST) and alcohol detox with the support from RISE, the CGL Drug & Alcohol Recovery Service in Ealing. You will also deliver psycho-social interventions on a 1-2-1 and group basis. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and liaise with a wide range of partner on order to meet the wide scope of support needed for these vulnerable women.
The priority for this post is that you bring mental health knowledge and experience, training will be provided in substance misuse and other relevant subjects.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Providing intensive, 1-2-1 holistic support to women with mixed complexities
2. Monitor and implement strength-based plans with specific targets and timeframes for action alongside individual clients using the Mental Health Recovery Star tool.
3. Increase the number of women accessing substance misuse treatment and achieving positive outcomes
4. Provide support and access to legal remedies for women experiencing domestic violence
5. Divert women from the criminal justice system and custody
6. Deliver structured group work that focusses on a range of diverse psycho-social and/or psycho-educational objectives relevant to the group, topics could include building relationships that help not harm, conflict management, positive coping strategies etc
7. 1-2-1 support to women accessing the daily drop in service, to include short term crisis resolution/problem solving
8. Provide harm minimisation support
9. Provide benefits and debt advice
10. Support peer mentoring
11. Parenting support and signposting to local programmes
12. Health & wellbeing support, including signposting to health trainers, smoking cessation, sexual healthy and GP registration
13. Build relationships with other organisations who share our vision
14. Set priorities and monitor allocation of time; organising and planning own workload.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE
  • Of a strengths-based approach to working with individuals living with complex mental health
  • of cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • The causes and symptoms of mental health
  • Self-harm, eating disorders, benefits, debt advice,
  • A range of therapeutic approaches to supporting positive mental health
  • Impact measurement tools and reporting
  • Risk assessment processes
EXPERIENCE
  • 2 years’ experience, post qualification, in a mental health/complex needs setting
  • Experience of delivering psychoeducational and therapeutic groups
  • Experience of working with higher risk groups for example refugee and asylum seekers or people from the bame community
  • Experience of working with underlying causes and symptoms of mental health
  • An understanding of crisis management and the ability to deal with life threatening situations including suicide prevention
  • Experience of monitoring, evaluation and reporting
  • Working collaboratively and in partnership
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Experience of managing a caseload of adults with complex mental health needs and working 1:1 with them
  • Ability to hold your authority as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrate good decision-making in dealing with safety and safeguarding issues
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Be able to manage own case files on an independent basis
  • Effective verbal, written and listening communication skills
  • Able to present information to a range of audiences in different ways

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Psychology and/or Counselling certificate/diploma (min)
  • Trauma informed Practice
  • Mental health First Aid
  • Safeguarding Level 2
