Night Support Worker ( Psychologically Informed Practitioner)

LIFE Resource workers have a vital role in providing flexible support and care to the young people within our home. This position involves filling in during times of understaffing to ensure continuity of care and support for the young people. The resource worker will collaborate with the permanent staff to facilitate holistic and person-centred care for the young people in our home. The role requires a commitment to fostering a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of young people, as well as supporting those who face crises and challenges.
Key responsibilities:
Accompany and support young people during outings, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Create a secure environment for young people to share and explore their experiences and feelings.
  • Assist young people with cooking and cleaning and encourage participation in hobbies and therapy sessions.
  • Engage in enjoyable activities with young people to build rapport and trust.
  • Develop meaningful connections with young people to support their emotional and psychological well-being.
  • Actively participate in and promote our therapeutic approach.
  • Collaborate with permanent staff members, including therapists, educators, and social workers, to implement personalised care plans.
  • Assist in planning and facilitating programs and activities that promote personal growth, skill development, and social interaction.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions, support provided, and young people's progress during shifts.
  • Prepare reports and documentation as required by supervisors, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and regulations.
  • Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of young people.
Building Relationships with Young People:
  • As a Resource worked recruited by LIFE, you may not work every day but will fill in when the home is understaffed. To become familiar with the young people, you will:
  • Attend initial orientation and training sessions to understand the unique needs and backgrounds of the young people in our care.
  • Participate in team meetings and debriefs to stay updated on each young person's progress and current status.
  • Engage with the young people during your shifts, building rapport through consistent and empathetic interactions.
  • To engage in our therapeutic spaces such as reflective practice.
  • Review care plans, progress notes, and relevant documentation regularly to remain informed about the young people’s histories, needs, and goals.
  • Communicate openly with full-time staff to ensure continuity of care and to stay informed about any changes or specific concerns.
Training and Development:
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in youth support and resource management.
  • Share knowledge and skills with other staff members to enhance the overall quality of care and support provided.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Level 3 social-care ( Desired).
  • · Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with young people in a support or care role.
Job Type: Freelance
Pay: £13.50-£15.00 per hour
