Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optical Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support in the optical practice, assisting both customers and optometrists in delivering high-quality eye care services. Your knowledge of anatomy and laboratory procedures will be invaluable as you help ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
Responsibilities
- Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and ensuring they are comfortable.
- Conduct preliminary tests, including measuring visual acuity and performing basic eye tests.
- Maintain an organised and clean laboratory environment, ensuring all equipment is properly calibrated and functioning.
- Help in the fitting and adjustment of eyewear, providing excellent customer service throughout the process.
- Manage inventory of optical supplies and assist with ordering as needed.
- Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage.
- Keep accurate records of patient information and appointments.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of anatomy related to the eye is essential for understanding patient needs.
- Experience in a laboratory setting is highly desirable, particularly in handling optical equipment.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn about new technologies and practices in the optical field.
