Project Editor (Knowledge Customs) - DK Knowledge
London
November 1, 2024
Whether amending existing content or developing brand new ideas, the custom team is responsible for offering tailored solutions to clients by creating truly unique products that are commercially successful and adhere to DK’s high editorial and design standards.
Known internally as a Project Editor, you will be managing the editorial aspects of custom projects, which often involves revising or adapting existing content and coordinating design elements to meet the needs of our global customers. Our projects move quickly so you need to be someone flexible in your approach and comfortable switching between different projects that are at various stages of production.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Generating and pitching ideas for new custom projects that meet the needs of clients based in the UK, US, and other global markets
- Managing projects through all stages from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget
- Working closely with colleagues from all areas of the business, including sales, production, editorial, design, and rights, as well as with customers and other external collaborators such as imprimaturs, authors, and freelancers
- Undertaking editing and proofreading tasks as required, including writing cover copy and marketing materials, and upholding editorial quality at all times
To succeed in the role, we’re looking for someone with sound editorial experience, ideally within a fast-paced publishing environment, and experience in custom publishing is a plus. You’ll need strong project-management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects at various stages, all while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as you’ll be working closely with editors, designers, sales teams, and directly with our clients. Experience of managing budgets is also important, as is a collaborative mindset and a proactive, solutions-focused approach to challenges.
In return, you’ll have the opportunity to work on some fantastic projects that span a wide variety of topics – science, nature, history, art, and philosophy to name just a few. You’ll also collaborate with some of the best editors, designers, and sales professionals in the industry, all while helping clients create customised content that resonates with their audiences.
If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, are passionate about publishing, and are excited about the challenge of managing bespoke projects from start to finish, we’d love to hear from you!
To apply for the position, please submit a copy of your most recent CV and a cover letter detailing why you’re the perfect fit for this role by 15th November 2024.
