Job Summary
The Refuge Worker plays a vital role in providing support and care for children in a refuge setting. This position is focused on ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and development of children while fostering a nurturing environment. The Refuge Worker will work closely with children and their families, implementing care plans and engaging in activities that promote emotional and social growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individual care plans tailored to each child's needs.
- Provide direct support and supervision to children, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Engage children in educational and recreational activities that promote learning and social interaction.
- Communicate effectively with children, families, and team members to ensure a cohesive approach to care.
- Maintain accurate records of children's progress and any incidents that occur during shifts.
- Collaborate with other professionals, including social workers and educators, to provide comprehensive support.
- Drive children to appointments or activities as required, ensuring their comfort and safety during transport.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to childcare and refuge work.
Skills
- Proven experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is essential.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children and families.
- Ability to develop and implement care plans that address individual needs.
- Competence in using IT systems for record keeping and communication purposes.
- A valid driving licence is preferred for transporting children when necessary.
- A compassionate nature with a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 5 months
Pay: £16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
